Pornography is Spreading Like a Virus
Pornography is spreading like a virus. So, why is that a problem and what is the solution? Making love should be an intimate experience between two people that love each other, care for one another, and are committed to one another. Why? Because there is usually the possibility that this act, no matter how cautious you are, could result in a child. A child that will need the two parents who brought them into the world to be responsible for them, guide them, nurture them, and help them grow into healthy positive people with high self-esteem. Pornography curtails the whole above paragraph. It is dehumanizing and degrading. It is sex between people getting paid or being forced. The intimacy is removed and the objectifying takes it place. It is absolutely not “love-making.” It is the use of someone else for another’s own selfish gain. If you are watching it, you are also using those people for your own selfish sexual gratification. Furthermore, would you ever like to see your daughter, son, or niece on an internet porn site no matter whether they are 5 or 25? Would you like to see degrading and dehumanizing sexual acts being performed on your loved ones? The more pornography is socially acceptable the larger the likelihood that will be a possibility. And, if it’s not okay for your loved ones, why is it okay for anyone? Why are so many women concerned about their weight? Why are so many women suffering from anorexia and bulimia? Why are there so many teenaged pregnancies? Because our society is feeding women everyday this idea that it is their “job” to be sexy. That’s usually the only way a woman can get any attention. It’s a joke nowadays, “sex sells!” Everybody accepts it, jokes about it, and barely thinks twice about it. It is selling way too much. It is dehumanizing our entire society. There are even sexual innuendos I have seen in children’s cartoons. Subliminal messages so the adults will buy the videos? Probably. It is completely out of control! There are children being molested. There are people being raped. Do you think pornography has nothing to do with it? Do you think sex selling so much has nothing to do with that? If you want to learn how to better pleasure your partner, buy a book and read the instructions, or better yet, ask them. But don’t do anything for your partner if you feel it is degrading and dehumanizing. If you really want to leave a legacy for our future generations, stop condoning sex selling so much. It’s no longer laughable! If you have questions or comments about this article please e-mail me at beth@empathylessons.com. - Elizabeth Fink, December 5, 2008
